The Fermi Paradox
Tim Urban wrote this awesome piece over at Wait But Why on why we haven't found any intelligent life in the universe. After yet again trying to comprehend the massiveness of the universe, he gets into the idea of what another lifeform might look like.
The technology and knowledge of a civilization only 1,000 years ahead of us could be as shocking to us as our world would be to a medieval person. A civilization 1 million years ahead of us might be as incomprehensible to us as human culture is to chimpanzees.
There is so much out there, and we have experienced so so so so so little of it. I love this stuff!
